The bright, dark Riebeek Cape Ruby is a fortified wine made in the style of a ruby port.

The flavours are opulent with ripe fruit, chocolate and interesting nuances of spice on the nose and a pallet that follows through smoothly and with a lingering aftertaste.

Made from 80% Tinta Barocca and 20% Souzau of which 50% was matured in small barrels for two years.

 

SERVING SUGGESTIONS

This Cape Ruby style desert wine is very versatile. Serve at room temperature to drive away winter chills or slightly chilled in summer time. Beautiful with cheese, especially gorgonzola, blue cheese and matured cheddar. And try it with good chocolate for a decadent experience.

 

RIEBEEK CELLARS’ VELVETY TANNINS

Velvety tannins are typical of wines from the Swartland wine region, leaving a rich and lasting sensation on the palate. The medium to full-bodied reds have a characteristic spiciness on the nose – this is, after all, ‘Shiraz Country’ – and soft, welcoming tannins which leave a rich and lasting sensation on the palate. Alternative oak and barrel maturation ensures flavours that are well integrated and a texture that is lush and velvety.

Truly, this is a selection that offers something for everyone, every day; a warm welcome for travelers wanting to sample the pride of our valley, and a rich reward for the most discerning connoisseur.
